Day 17 of 21

Today I went to my first Yoga class in a studio for awhile. It was great. The view was pretty at the Om hotel and the teacher lead a very nice class with a balance of different stretches, breathing and mantra. Today we focused on the “So Hum” mantra. The yogic mantra “so hum” is not only a reflection of the sound of the breath but also carries a contemplative meaning: “I am that” (so = “I am” andhum = “that”). Here, “that” refers to all of creation, the one breathing us all. Sometimes your ego pops up during Yoga- you begin worrying about pushing yourself farther in the stretches and trying for perfect posture- which awareness is necessary, especially at the beginning so that you can understand the formation of your body and what you want it to do, so that you can begin to feel the affect of the asanas. However- it’s also important to focus on your breath and by ALSO focusing on Mantra…it really keeps your mind on the present moment! I was sweating and quickly entered into a profound meditative state during final Savasana Asanas. Waking up an hour earlier and having that connection before 9 in the morning, felt great. I love mornings. They feel amazing. It’s interesting to, if I wake up before 7 I am way more active in my elimination. When I was waking up at 5:30 for my last job, I needed to plan bathroom time into my day to take time to go a few times. And once 8’oclock came around, I never went to the bathroom again until the next morning. I will need to see what happens tomorrow.
But I think that this makes a lot of sense, since according to the Chinese Organ Repair Timetable, between 5-7am is for your Large Intestine.
7-9am is Stomach.  Having 7-9am being the stomach repair time, also works well with the morning when Kapha is aggravated. Kapha time of the day, their is low agni or weak digestive energy. So it is really recommended not to have anything to heavy to eat in the morning, especially before 10 am OR the sun us 1/3 of its arch in the sky.
11am-1pm Heart
1-3pm Small Intestine
3-5pm Bladder
5-7pm Kidney
7-9pm Circulation/Sex
9-11pm Triple Warmer
11pm-1am Gall Bladder
1-3am Liver
3-5am Lung
5-7am Large Intestine
(*Times will vary depending on where you live in the world and the season.)

After class I had breakfast, went for a walk with Boris and then began studying Ayurveda. I enjoyed studying today and still have a bit more that I want to accomplish before bed. I just had a brief meditation and Reiki session. Lately all my meditations are brief because my is constantly barking and I need to go look out the window and tell him

” Good job, but it’s not our house” so he will stop.

I just watched a short video, about someone else who was on a journey, and it’s pretty inspiring. It’s about a man who lost a significant amount of weight by doing at home Yoga videos.

Well I need to finish a few more things tonight before it gets too late!

Here’s my routine from today as is.
