Day 1 of 21

“So Becky, how did your first day of making an effort to follow all your Ayurvedic guidelines go?”
“Well thanks for asking… Becky…well to be honest, not to bad.”

LAST night after I went to bed early, I woke up at 1:00am, some lovely man across the hall was having a hell-of-a  time sleeping/snoring. I decided to go over and help the guy out, so got him hooked up to his Sleep Apnea machine… figuring out how to do that though, really woke me up so…

I read beautiful and important articles form my Reiki group… on my cellphone.
WELL- so I broke a rule right then a there, no screen time before bed. I really do want to work on this, because very intelligent people say this effects your sleep and I have no reason not to believe them, I am just I suppose… well addicted to checking my phone when I wake up and looking at my phone before I go to sleep. My phone is my alarm clock, music player, journal and computer.

Well I went back to sleep by 3am or so and then I got up not as planned at 5:30am- but I got up with enough time to yes scrape my tongue, have lemon tea, jala netti, 50 minute yoga practice, eliminate bowl and get ready for the day. I had the privilege to take my dad to the Docs and help him get an injection on his rump… I will also have the privilege of administrating the next 4 days of shots for him.

I had breakfast for dinner (Divorciados) and I did drink a cup of coffee before I had the meal, without waiting 15 minutes before- but maybe 10 minutes. So again, not ideal- However, I remembered to be mindful and when the conversation was going to shift to something serious- I reminded my parents that we want to only talk about nice things while eating.

Then probably I made a bad choice and caused a lot of pain to my body- which, I don’t know what the thoughts of “hair waxing” is in the yoga sutras… but it has got to be against the rules somewhere. It is painful, it is embarrassing and it is expensive. Marie was very nice though and I nervously asked her many awkward questions about hair during our time together.

TODAY I wasn’t a very good student, I only really studied for one hour.

I did however do chores, met the plumber, played translator, went shopping for things for the house, I planted some plants (this makes me super happy), I made and enjoyed a fresh salad for supper and I spent some good quality time with my family today.

So all in all, today was a good day, and an okay start- but tomorrow will be a lot better.

And now for -self massage, meditation and sleep!
(I know this challenge/lifestyle sounds horrible.)

Good night.
