Well, I am now just printing school notes, so that I will be able to do some study in my free time over the next months. I am sitting at my sisters table- the printer is slow, but it’s working hard to print the information of my next level of education, that I just wish I already knew… as I briefly scan some of the pages, I become overwhelmed at the amount of studying, learning that I will need to do- to become successful… but I also know, that when I have time to dedicate to my studies again, I will so with gratitude and dedication.
I am just hoping that I will make enough money in the next months to fully pay for all my upcoming education as I had planned/dreamed. I am going to be working a lot less hours than I had imagined… so well, this is a bit shocking and disappointing, but everything happens for a reason, and if the eggs are less in that basket- it’s good that I have a basket full of free ranged chicken eggs… and today I bought more oil.
I bought more oil, in hopes that I will be able to give massages to the community of Coronach during the next couple months, as I continue my tri-weekly yoga class and at least 40hr work week.
Well- that is the future, and tomorrow- I am here to blog about now- and well the last days. I came to Regina on Friday as it was our ETO…. so around 10pm I showed up in Regina after getting off night shift and then doing some things around the house before hitting the road. I met my sister, bro-in law and cousin and their friends at the Curling Rink. They were having a good time there- they were finishing up their curling season, and their was a live band playing really fun music. The band was a compilation of great Regina artists… and I will admit, it was very fun to dance to them. When their set closed, we all headed to the Fat Badger, where my other cousin was Bouncing, and it was more fun of dancing there… it felt so good to just go out dancing with like minded people/dancers again. I always love partying with my sisters friends and they always are very accepting of me. Now after more than 10 years knowing most of them- I know them pretty well to.
On Saturday night my sister and I went to an African Dance piece, put on by New Dance Horizons. It was really intense and inspiring and after we had an opportunity to talk to the I believe Montreal based dancers… they said they were putting on a workshop the next day- so it got our wheels ticking.
That night, my sisters friends had a party at their place Malty National, it was their one year anniversary, so it was a nice time, delicious beer, board games and good conversation.
Sunday, Nichole and I went to the 2 hour workshop- and it was SO inspiring, and taught me a lot to think about. We really worked with our foot and core a lot, and I learned a lot about centering… and also has an insight into the African dance culture and other cultures…. in my own culture, we don’t dance as much as in others… we don’t know how to connect to our hips and we often feel self conscious while dancing.
After the workshop, I thanked the dancer/choreographer/philosopher/beautiful lady who put it on- and she took my hands in between hers and told me not to stop dancing and keep practicing- she made a special comment to me too and it was very encouraging.
Most if not all the other people in the class were dancers… but I, I had never taken dance lessons, except a few with my Spanish classes. But over the years- I have been practicing and getting tips here and there from other people… especially, a few nice dates here and there.
I want to help liberate my fellow- Saskatchewanites- I want to have some dance meditation/dance parties (drug and alcohol free) at the Legion during the next months. I don’t think they will go over that well, I mean I don’t think there will be a big turn out, but I want to try. I will just need to take my time to collect some good music that will be appropriate and then plan it on a weekend I have off and try to get some people to commit.
After the workshop, we went to our first BBQ of the season. The Birthday BBQ of my sisters friend- well, actually, I really like her too- so I will call her my friend haha… well anyways, there was a lot of kids there, good food and the majority of the people were playing on little Banjos. We even ended up having a fire… which was SOO nice.
These nights ended up with my reading a story to my nephews and falling asleep with then… to wake up around 1 or 3… and staying up for some hours.
The next day on Monday I just did family stuff and then took care of some personal stuff- I got my hair cut, bought a jacket and a few other things from the mall- actually I went to my first ever PROFESSIONAL massage that I paid for. (I traded one before.)
It was really relaxing- actually I fell asleep. I was trying to pay attention to it all, but her pressure almost seemed so light I couldn’t….but it was a nice experience and I think I will spend more money on getting massages in the future. I think it’s a good idea, as I am giving massages as well… just a little more insight on the experience.
I stopped by a store and chatted with a nice guy from India, who ended up charging me 5 dollars less for my purchase hehe… it was a nice gesture.
That night I met my friend Kelly for a few drinks, and I briefly talked with my Spanish Pen Pal for a few moments by WhatsApp Chat- it was our first time seeing each other in real time… so I guess we are real people now, it’s proof. 🙂 I’m happy about that, I hope that we will meet one day soon in person as all friendships/relationships are better in person.
Today after my nephew went to school, my sister and I went to the YMCA and we went to the Yoga class there, then did some lane swimming (4 times… man SWIMMERS ROCK, that is some serious hard work. I do not know how to do the breathe work of swimming yet haha) Then we hit up the Sauna for a few minutes, but grabbing a delicious juice from some Natural Store and then doing shopping for other food products and things I needed for massage and Yoga Class.
Also it was really good to go to a Yoga class- however, it wasn’t good for me in the long run as it was kind of all over the place as far as styles- it was different sun salutations that involved a lot of ground work and many new salutations, that I had never learned before- but it reminded me a lot of asanas and flow from a Kundalini yoga class… however, this was far from a Kundalini Class. The Vinyasa was also only 5 minutes at the end, as it was lunch time yoga and many people who work rushed there for Yoga then rushed back to work.
I think coming to do this type of Yoga is probably still better than no Yoga- but I really am looking forward to developing and beginning to teach yoga that is really beneficial for people. The teacher is a tool to the Yoga… and then the Asanas and the breathe and the student connecting to their own mind, body and soul… is where the learning happens. The student can pick and choose what they like from class and create their own practice, or look around to find other teachers they will like. Not every style is for everyone… but the Vatas probably like Vinyasas, Pittas Hot Yoga and Kaphas Yin…. not saying, this is what’s best or worst… just saying, we all have different interests and gravitate towards what feels good for us now… and after being educated and understanding ourselves better, we can choose to gravitate towards things that will benefit us later… or even knowing the tools to make sure we make everything we do- the best for ourselves.
If eating dry crackers isn’t good for me, but I like crackers- add butter…
If doing a intense Vinyasa class isn’t the best for me, taking a 20 minute Shavasana at the end and drinking a grounding drink after… perhaps, root vegetables with some Tumeric.
Overall- it was a really good long weekend. I got to spend a lot, almost all my time with my family. As I am on a leave from school- I wasn’t stressed about studying, which is the first time that happened in a year haha… my job does not involve me to have any stress after work and I am happy to be where I am.
Regina, always shows me a good time, good community, good events, good music, good dancing, good food… haha yet, I don’t have a desire to live here yet.
Maybe if I was in love with someone here it would be fine… but I really think living near the Ocean or Forest, is a long term better decision.
Well, my printer is still printing… but I think I am done writing for the night.
