SIGH. Well- it’s Sunday night and I am not at work. I have nothing to do- nor desire to do it. I have the night off. I have completed my first contract this year with SP for the overhauls! Yep, Feb.21st until May.26. 94 days. During this time I had a few days off, in which I travelled to Regina to visit my family, had bonfires, hung out with some of my friends here making stuff, yoga, video, drinking beer from Malty National. I remember being in Mexico thinking- oh it won’t be that bad. You will just need to take each day at a time… you got this. You have done heaps of Overhauls before.
And- that’s what I did. Week by week, day by day- which turned into section by section. FOR SURE- this was my most difficult overhaul of this length I have ever been on due to the emotional flow of the trip… but I wasted enough time on that during the time and refuse to float on down that river.
SO NOW- I am still working- this time without an end date… I think it’s going to be until sometime in July… but I guess I will know when I know.
I would like to say there is something romantic about not knowing what you will be doing next week or in a month, however, it really has burdened my romance… unable to plan to visit someone or have someone visit you isn’t the ideal situation that I wanted to find myself into at this moment of my life… but I suppose, I was rushing to quick trying to find myself someone to love… this is perhaps the Universe saying- “chill… make some money, get your independence back, have some fun, don’t take life so serious, practice what you have been learning, share your passion and don’t even take for granted living on the beach, teaching Yoga… ever again.” Hopefully, soon, VERY SOON, I will have at least a better tentative idea of what my next months will look like.
So well I never did any updates on here for awhile, however, I was writing in my journal, so I will update some things in the future.
But basically:
Svastha Yoga Community Program:
I committed to having a 75 minute Yoga class, 2 times a week during the days I was in Coronach.
The class was before night shift, so we had time to get to work on time after the class, therefore, it wasn’t an ideal time for all- however, I now have a feeling it wasn’t about the time as much as peoples own resistance to making time for themselves and lack of interest to use 75 minutes of their free time towards Yoga. Most people that did originally come to class stopped coming for various reasons such as, wanting to sleep longer, wanting to go golfing, not being interested in my Spiritual style of yoga that I was presenting.
The students that I had, I hope will continue to practice and learned a few things in class that they can continue to use in their daily lives.
I didn’t raise as much money as I had initially wanted to- actually, initially, I had an idea that there was going to be 8 Scaffolders who wanted to have class and then there was interest from about 4-5 other people. So people were excited about the Yoga class to begin but we never had any supplies… so I got excited and I went online shopping to make a Yoga Shala ready for all kinds of walk-ins. I invested money into buying two mats, big bolster, small bolster, ropes, blocks, some blankets for Shavasana, candles, mat spray and cloth, incense, oil, picture frame, and I also borrowed a couple Yoga mats.
Cost of items bought: (Look up and update.)
I had asked for Donations for the class- this ended up being $5.00 a class from most people.
Originally, I wanted to pay for all the things that I had bought and then give the rest back to the Legion as donation.
However- in the end, from all the classes (update number of classes after) I raised just shy of $400.00.
So this is why I am sharing about my experience:
It was a rewarding experience, however, for a short program- economically it wasn’t successful but Spiritually it was. There was several days where I was very tired, do to long hours of work and some very laborious nights of work followed by bad sleep-
but I never wanted to let people down by not coming to class… so I made it, and then after the class was finished- I had never regretted coming to practice.
Well- maybe once, when only one student came- and she also felt the duty to come to class and we both should have just slept more.
Sleep is also very important and if you don’t have your health- many things you normally practice in class won’t serve you. (Pranayama, Vata stimulating Asanas, Etc.)
Abhyanga Massage:
During the past 94 days, my one friend lend me a massage table, another friend gave me massage sheets, I bought oil, another friend just built me a Shirodhara stand (that I will get my hands on this week and begin practicing with). I bought a heating pack, some more towels and a few pillows and blankets for extra comfort.
I probably spent: (Look up money spent for all the details.)
I offered 5 therapies and unfortunately turned down giving others, due to not having enough steam to feel comfortable giving a holistic massage to the quality that I really like giving. I gave one massage for free, one 60 minute massage and three, 90+ minute massages and made around $355 dollars.
Overall: I was happy with how the massages went however, I will still need to give quite a few more when I head to Estevan to completely cover my costs of oils and props.
I will continue to update this after, including how my own health and Yoga and Ayurveda practices where throughout the past months… as well as anything else that I really feel is important to document about this time frame- that may help me out in the future. But now- I need to sleep.
