Well- yesterday and today were really nice days. SUPER chill.
Yesterday in the morning I got up, did my Jala netti pot, had lemon water and then a delicious milk concoction made by Rebeca. I had a little yoga time outside in the backyard- and I was SUPER stiff and tight. I thought I was meeting someone for lunch (had my days wrong) so I got ready for lunch, then realized I was wrong, so made some lunch then went for a walk to Zona Azul. About 20 minutes from where I am staying. There, I found many restaurants and stores and it had a nice vibe. It started raining and even hailing a bit so I ducked into a restaurant named ” La Casa de Buen Pozole”, and I asked for a coffee and a piece of cream cheese pie with black berries.
On my way there- I almost turned around as the sky was beginning to darken and I could hear the thunder in the distance…also, for some reason I was really tired… it was almost work to make myself walk up the small hill… but once I got walking for a few minutes I started feeling a little better. I enjoyed a few cups of coffee before returning back to my neighborhood where I picked up my yoga stuff and headed to Bhakti Yoga studio to get a massage and then have yoga class. It was an amazing massage! It was a swiss massage, that lasted around or over 130 minutes, and the cost was 500 pesos. The woman who gave the massage (my friends mom), is a beautiful lady, inside and out, and she has a true passion for what she does. The room was really nice and clean and – well, to be honest, I was really happy with the massage and really needed it. It was the first time I had human contact in a month and first massage in a long time… after work, travel and the night spent outside on the weekend- by tired body really appreciated a little TLC.
After class- I stepped out into a Vinyasa yoga class, lead by Rebecca and it also was very powerful and left me in a great mood. At the end of class we made OM OLAS…waves of OM’S and that is always a lot of fun. After class we went to to the supermarket and bought some fresh stuff, came home and made supper. I indulged in a special cookie and just chilled for several hours before finding my way into a deep sleep.
This morning I woke up and went straight to restorative Yoga class – at the end of class we sang a mantra 108 times while using out mandalas. The vibration was really great and I hope to continue doing this exercise for the next 40 days as directed by Rebeca.
After class I went to the Shoe repair place and dropped off my Moccasins that had holes in the toes and I’m going to get them repaired for 65 pesos. Then, left with just my sandals- I looked down and my sad looking toes with chipped away nail polish and stopped by a salon and got a pedicure and manicure for 150 pesos. While this was happening, I read from a Mexican magazine about all kinds of celebrity gossip… one article I found very interested was about Penis Surgery. The only Surgeon licensed to do Penis Enlargements is from and living in Mexico. He had studied in Europe I believe but has been doing surgeries here for years… he started off doing one surgery a month and now is doing up to 15 surgeries a month. The surgery helps men who feel less of a man due to being born with a small or thinner penis… and these surgeries can add on 2-8 ” and girth or thickness can be added. These cost between 50,000 – 150,000 pesos and take 1-2 hours. All this information is from my head and being translated from Spanish- but I’m sure it’s true-ish. How sad it is though, that men come with their spouses and girlfriends to get this surgery- why can’t there partners appreciate them for what they have? But well- we live in a superficial world.
I met an old friend for dinner, and it was such a great couple of hours talking, catching up and we had a real good meal- actually I took us back to the restaurant I was at the day before- because the menu looked really good, but yesterday I ate before I arrived there.
So for 89 pesos I had a nice plate of breaded fish (pescado Milanese), carrot soup, salad and rice with platano and watermelon juice. The fish was so good! I could eat that everyday… I remember the first time I saw Milanese meat was in the border town of Bolivia and Argentina.
But the more I walk around this area of town, the more comfortable I feel. The people are so nice, the prices are very good- and although certain people have warned me about crime and such around here- it’s not the people who actually live here that told me that. I guess I should knock on wood, but I haven’t had any problems yet… and all is well and safe in my world.
After dinner- I was hoping to go out and dance in the night- but everyone cancelled on me that said they were going to go- so I just began to do my research of Oaxaca, made supper, made some Jamaica tea and called a few friends. And now tomorrow I am going to practice yoga, give a massage and then in the afternoon go to my friends house and the spend the night there and meet her new daughter! And already I have plans for social activities Friday night.
- One thing I wanted to note was that a month ago I had a pretty big cyst on my wrist- so big, people in the elevator would ask me about it… and I began to do Reiki to it… now it’s so small, I barely even notice it! This to me- is a really positive thing, and a result that I was hoping for but wasn’t sure if I would get it again. (Again, meaning I had the same cyst a few years ago and then did Reiki on it and it went away.)
