So I woke up with RED puffy eyes, runny nose and sneezing and just feeling tired.
I had made the mistake of touching the cat (a quick little push to him motivate him to leave the kitchen so I could shut the door and he wouldn’t be stuck in there all night) and I guess – I had rubbed my eyes at some point in the night and …. VOILA! (How do you spell Voylah?) Instant allergies!
So what to do? Take western medicine? I didn’t want to.
Take herbal medicine? I didn’t have any….
EXCEPT I did! Last week I bought Triphala to begin taking daily to increase a healthy digestion in hopes of lowering the amount of Ama (toxins) I was producing.
I boiled some water, and put a coffee filter in a glass container and made some Triphala tea- that I then filled into my eye cleanser cup (yes I travel with one, as I want to begin cleansing my eyes at least once a week.)
ALSO- I used my Jala Netti pot- just with warm water and himalaya salt to cleanse out my nostril passageway. It was a mixture of running and also blockage- so it was a bit of work- but after a few attempts there was some relief.
A few hours later, my eyes and nose were no longer leaking and I started looking human again.
Yay- for natural remedies!
ALSO: I just wanted to talk about my Allergies to cats a bit. It’s a weird thing for me to be allergic to cats… I like cats, I had a baby sitter with cats when I was young… but for most of my life, sleeping in a place with cats was kinda…hellish?! Yeah, I would have an asthma attack, my eyes would get swollen and just feel bad. I used to need to take allergy pills EVERY day during harvest or “hay fever” season and also if I ever stayed at a friends house with a cat- and I would make sure that I had a clean pillow case or put a clean shirt around a pillow to sleep. BUT now- I no longer have asthma… and I no longer am traveling with anti histamines. I was around Canada for harvest this year- and never had any problems and also aside from my eyes being a little red in the morning right now- being in a house with 5 cats- hasn’t been to terrible! SO how did my allergies get better?
Well hard to say, perhaps Reiki- perhaps Yoga…
the question is now, how to get rid of them completely!?! What is it about cats… that I have a reaction? Is it something scientific… or is it something on a deeper level? Is it a fear based allergy… or is there just actually something chemically in the hair of cats that my body just does not agree with and feels it as a threat? I hope to find this out.
