The greatest teachers.

The greatest teachers are not loved by every student- they are not liked either. The student may resist the knowledge- or simple not be ready for it.

Today I was compelled to look at my Yoga book I was studying during my Teacher Training at Shiva Yoga Peeth in November 2014.
It’s as if it’s the first time I am reading it- there is so much great information in it.
Really.

Swami did a great job in preparing his book and I have a new respect and understanding now of the way he held space for all of us american/western students who came to study yoga- but were just at the beginning of our paths. To be accepted to the program, you were suppose to have had a practice for 2 years- when I entered, I did not… it was less than a year. I understood after 2 years of having a practice- why one should have at least two years of practice, of developing consciousness before beginning to lead someone else. I wasn’t worried though- because I never had the intention to start teaching yoga- until I was ready.

I am ready-
but also ready to begin following and studying more of the yogic pathway.
I am understanding from intellectual, emotional and spiritual view points now why certain things are important.

Sigh.

I have a lot to go into, but it involves bhramacharya/ maintaining your own sexual energy/not depleting oneself. Not talking to much/having to many friends/ because then you will eventually lie- which causes turbulence in mind…  treating body as temple and proper maintenance of this.
Today is for studying though- so In a week or so I hope to come back to this… I think it’s a very important time and something has really awoken within me.

This morning I chose 3 kriyas from my book to cleanse myself:
Jala Netti, Vaman Dhauti and Mulshodan.

Jala Netti: Warm salted water into alternating nostrils/ followed by breathe work.
Will explain in more details later. Benefits: The mind becomes peaceful with Neti, tensions removed. The brain becomes energized and excessive heat or dizziness is cured easily. The mind becomes one-pointed and the third eye opens. Also the Ajna chakra is awakened.

Vaman Dhauti
Drinking as many cups of warm salted water as you can on a completly empty stomach and vomiting it up. This cleans out the walls of the stomach very well, increases the secretion of the digestive juices. Great for extra phlegm and heaviness of breathe (avalambaka kapha), good for stomach ulcers and skin diseases.

Mulshodhan
Inserting peeled tumeric root into anal and allowing the juices to be absorbed for several minutes.
This increases blood circulation in the nadis and cells, and allows the proper functioning of the excretory organs. Destroys old faeces and helps with constipation and piles.

So with putting Tumeric up my anal this morning- I decided that this week I will be studying Tumeric.

I will be updating my experiences:
1) In Anal: There was a strong, healing energy. I felt very positive and saw yellow/golden type colours. I felt excited to be trying to connect with Turmeric on a spiritual/energetic level as I have been a huge fan of using it in my foods and teas now for a few years.
The physical sensation was warm.
Still to early to tell complete effect as I was not constipated before and have not had a bowel movement since.
2) In food as spice:
3) In tea:
4)Meditation:
5) Sleeping:
6) Using topically:
7) Using as medicine:
