Well, I just finished being part of a Yoga and Ayurveda retreat here in Puerto Escondido, and I just am so full of love and gratitude about the entire experience. I just got back from Colombia a week before my friend showed up to begin preparing for the retreat.
I had planted the seed that they should do a retreat here in Puerto… and they, made it happen, and I was here to help out, in anyway that I could and in return, be part of their delicious meals, workshops and classes.
I new about this retreat, when I was planning my months- but I didn`t know what my role would be and how it would all play out- at first I thought I was going to be giving therapies with my friend to their guests... but when she arrived, she said we were not giving therapies because of the full on schedule, as well as not being able to offer therapies to the 18 people. Which was smart. I really enjoyed the classes and self exploration. The Yoga teacher gave classes that weren`t just yoga, but more influenced by motion and self exploration and curiosity and understanding about the body. We had a great group of people who really opened up and had a lot of respect and trust for the teacher, and I think then also for each other. The staff really cared about the clients and guests and made an effort to make things special and did really cute things. There was many cute details.. and it made me know for sure that… when I have a retreat and a place… I will make sure I put attention to the little details and make sure my guests feel loved and supported. This experience made me super excited to be helping others with retreats (being the Ayurvedic role)… I already have a few Yoga teachers asking for my involvement, which is great. I think retreats are fantastic opportunities for people.
I have never signed up for one before… but I have now been invited to be part of a few over the years and I always have a great time.
It`s so interesting how different people are though and how different people run retreats, group settings, meals and such… I just had two completely different experiences from Colombia to México. So I am grateful for both experiences and to see how people felt and reacted to the differences.
So the week was great, I had fun helping getting the food and such from around town… Puerto Escondido, is just amazing… we were able to get almost every ingredient we needed for 5 days of Ayurvedic meals and the food was SOO fresh and colorful and yummy. We got some locals to help us out by making some beans, the tortillas, kefir, coconuts, firewood, juice and we bought fresh cacao and cacao seeds and made cacao drinks for our closing ceremony.
The beaches were fun to go to, however, one day- a group of 5 got pulled out by the current and people were afraid they were going to drown… but they made it back…. shooken up, but fine.
Well- finally that chapter is done and now my next chapter is called- finishing my courses, preparing for Practicum and making rent money!
So tonight I gave another basti and tomorrow I am going to make a schedule for all the therapies I need to give for free this month, and begin putting people in the slots. Im excited to give free therapies to friends and neighbours who can use some loving and I am a huge fan of all my therapies... I just need to practice my Spanish to make them really beneficial. Today I started my Spanish classes again too - so I`m back on track.
Well I think it has cooled down enough now to go to sleep.
