Thanksgiving fast.

Today is Thanksgiving- and although I called my family today and am thankful for them, the holiday itself is part of a the Canadian history, which I choose not to celebrate.

So today I decided to stay home and drink only water today. It’s now 7:30pm and I am almost ready for bed after my first real yoga asana practice in 31 days. I tried to do an ashtanga class of an hour and 20 minutes but only made it about an hour, as my wrists were hurting a lot. In the past month, I have noticed that I have lost quite a bit of muscle tone in my arms, back and stomach as well as my strength in my wrists. So tomorrow I will practice ashtanga again, but again, only as many chatarangas that I can do before my wrists hurt to much. Getting my body into shape again, makes me very excited. I am going to make a few videos of my practice now- as I am currently as flexible as I have been and not nearly as strong as I was last year. My body also has some aches and pains in my back and wrists- which I hope to over come soon as well.
The reason I want to make some videos is to help log the realistic side of life and the progress, the steps one needs to take, the time, energy and faith someone needs to have. I love yoga and how it makes me feel and having a toned, strong and flexible body… but I also was happy working 10.5-12 hours a day, making fresh food every couple of days and visiting with friends. I just chose not to make time for yoga asana… but I will not allow myself again to go more than a few days without my practice. Stretching and meditation and kriyas are all important- but it’s not fun having sore wrists and stiffness manifested in my body.

Thank-full for finding my path again and making the time for myself and for Yoga- union between mind, body and spirit.
